The Kiribati Healthy Families Project is a partnership between KFHA and New Zealand Family Planning. The duration of this project was originally three years and it was started in February 2012 this is phase one of this project. This project would enable activities that improve the SRHR of men, women and adolescents on Tarawa by providing ranges of quality, rights based sexual and reproductive health services.
The aim of this project is to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of I-Kiribati in South Tarawa. The Project is funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This project would implement jointly by New Zealand Family Planning and KFHA according to this three core activity streams.
-Comprehensive SRHR training to improve proficiency of clinical and health promotion staff
-Increase outreach activities to increase community access to SRHR services and information
-To increase SRHR information, education for community leaders to improve knowledge and promote an enabling community environment.
Phase Two of Kiribati Healthy Families Project, is started in 2015, after the successfully implementation of phase one. This project will start for another five years from 2015-2020, and it was expanded to 6 outer Islands.
